HOLIDAY TRADITIONS

Posted on 21 December 2015

Although magical, Christmas is often a hectic time of year.  In the spirit of the season, ,  we asked some of our favorite CM moms and dads to share their favorite holiday traditions..things that help them to stay mindful amidst the hustle and bustle.

"This little and simple tradition was born due to the question I was being asked literally every single day by my 3 year old... The infamous " is it Christmas?"

So I got an advent calendar that I saw at target (aka. my Mecca) and fell in love with the fun untraditional colors...
So now when Coco asks " is it christmas"?... I can simply say, check the calendar.  Plus it has been a great way to learn numbers. Win win for all."

"As a child, we always chose a special time to bake cookies together as a family and now it is so enjoyable to start these traditions with our little one and watch her decorating them. We love to play Christmas music while we are baking and smell the aroma that fills the house. We even bought a special plate and cup to put the cookies on and some snacks for the reindeer on Christmas Eve. After we put the plate of cookies and milk and reindeer snacks on the fireplace, we always snuggle up around the fireplace and read the book “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” I remember doing this as a child and now we have started this tradition with our little one."

"Every year we hang all our beautiful Christmas cards along our picture window. We get to look at them everyday and by Christmas Day they over flowing. It warms our hearts seeing all the incredible friends & family we share our lives with. This is one of my favorite traditions as it is the true meaning behind Christmas, our loved ones."

"Growing up my mother, and grandmother before her did copious amounts of holiday baking.  As a manager, I would make massive tins full of these same homemade goodies for my employees and co-workers.  Now, as a mom, the tradition has been dialed back.  But we still take time each year to make at least one special treat…amongst our favorites are homemade fudge, chocolate-covered peanut butter balls and grandma's homemade pitzelles."

Love the “clothesline” Christmas card display. We had been using a wire wreath to hold all our christmas cards but towards the end of the year it starts to get very full (read: messy and floppy) and it’s difficult to see a lot of the cards. I think we’ll be doing the twine with clothes pin thing next year!
